Eotc Diary

Hello.

For the past 3 days (Thursday, Friday and Monday) we have been doing EOTC. Today, we had to write a diary on google slides about what we did in those three days. For the first day we went to Youthtown, which was really fun. On the second day we went to Jellie park, which was also really fun. Then on the third day, we went to Adrenaline forest. In our EOTC diaries, we had to write what we did on that day, your favourite thing from that day, and something challenging,

Here is my work.

Summer learning Journey – Groove Pizza

Hello!

In cybersmart we have been doing the Summer Learning Journey. I worked on groove pizza. Groove pizza is a music website. You click some buttons on the bottom and it creates a beat. First, we had to watch a 14 minute video of Billie Eilish and Finneas making music. Then we visited the website. I clicked a few buttons until I liked what I made.

Summer Learning Journey – Where’s Wally

Hello!

Today, for cybersmart, we are doing the Summer Learning Journey. I chose to do where’s Wally, but instead of finding Wally, you have to find my pixton character. First, I made a copy of a slideshow. Then I had to take a screen shot of my pixton character and remove the background. After that, I had to go on slide 4 on the slideshow. There were pixton characters on the page. I had to add mine and hide it behind other pixton characters. Here is my work. Can you find my pixton character?

Cybersmart – Adobe

Yesterday for Cybersmart, we went on Adobe. Adobe is an app that uses Artificial intelligence (AI). First, Mrs Taylor showed us a video that uses AI. Then, she showed us a poster. The poster had a doll that looked like Mrs Taylor with headlines. It described what Mrs Taylor likes and what she is like. We also had to make one. Mrs Taylor told us to click on the link to Adobe. After that, we went back onto the Cybersmart website and clicked on the poster. On the top right was the word; “remix”.  Mrs Taylor told us to click on it. It took us on the template.

She also told us to click on the picture. Then we had to write things that we wanted our doll to look like. Once we did, we clicked generate and it showed us a few options of different characters. I clicked on one of them. Once we did that, we had to write things that describe us and things we like.

Swimming

Kumusta.

For the past 2 weeks we have been at the Matatiki swimming pool across the road. For the first day we went into the small pool. We practised our freestyle. Once we finished doing that, the instructors chose a group of people to go into the deep pool. I was one of them. For the next 4 days, we did the same things, practising our free styles, back strokes etc. We also jumped off the diving board at the end of every lesson.

For the second and third to last day, we wore life jackets and went on an inflatable boat. Today, the last day, we are swimming in our clothes. All of us are doing this because we need to learn how to swim if we fall into a pool or in water, with our clothes on.

Reading work

Kumusta.

For a few days we have been working on a workbook for reading. For the first day we had to read a text about a traditional dance from Tokelau named, Tafoe. After we finished reading the text we talked about sentences. After that we had to fix up sentences. The words weren’t in order so we had to fix it for it to make sense.

For day 2 we had to convert sentence fragments. Now for day 3 we had to watch a video of people doing the dance. When we finished watching it we had to answer the questions; What do you like about this dance? What does this dance remind you of? Why is it important for cultures to teach younger children traditional dances, songs and stories?. Once we answered those, all of us had to find out what the words; Varnish, Finding your own styles, and community.

Then we had to use the words in a sentence. Lastly, we had to talk about what a sentence is. I made it on Canva.

Tē Mahuri Magazine

Kumusta!

For a few weeks Room 9 and 10 have been doing a magazine. Everyone had to choose a topic we wanted to do. Angeline and I chose Filipino related things. We both chose to do the magazine on canva. We chose a template and started doing our work. We added the Filipino flag and some Filipino food on the cover. On the first page we talk about Filipino food and desserts.

For the second page both of us talked about Filipino items. Now for the last slide we talked about some of the vehicles in the Philippines. After that Whaea Abby made a new folder in our drive. We had to download our magazine and put it in the folder. Whaea Megan printed out all of the magazines and they made it into a magazine.

Custom blookets

Kumusta!

For a few days people in room 9 and 10 have been making custom blookets. If we haven’t made a blooket we had to make one. The blooket had to be about what he have learnt for the past 3 terms. I decided to be buddies with my friend. My buddy made a new blooket and we started thinking about what questions we should add. Our first question was “What is an Idiom” The answer was; an expression that doesn’t mean what it says.

We ended up adding 10 questions into the quiz. Some Māori related and some Maths related. It took us around 25 to 30 finished the blooket. Once Whaea Abby called us on the mat, everyone played me and my buddy’s blooket.

Buddy class

Kumusta.

Today we had buddy class in room 1 and 2. We lined up outside and went over to the classroom. I sat with my buddy, Ava. The teachers told us what we had to do with our buddies, show them our old slideshows with the Māori colours. Then we had to teach them the colours in Māori. After that we made a new slideshow of different things in Māori Colours.

Ava chose cats. I asked her what colour we should do and she said orange. I kept asker her a few more times until we were done. Here is our work

Theatre performance

Hello.

This morning 3 people from a theatre went to perform in our school. All of the classes lined up at around 9:30. My class lined up outside for a few minutes. Once we entered the gym one of the actors were playing the guitar. Everyone had finally sat down and the show started. The story started off with a girl named Maya. They all started singing a song.

Later on into the story Maya wanted to explore a cave. The show went on for another 20 minutes. When the story ended the actors asked if we had any questions. They explained that the story isn’t real and the story was about helping out your family and friends, self confidence and bravery.

Everyone clapped for them and we left.
