Matariki lightbox

Hello.

Room 9 went to Matatiki Library across the road.

We went at around 9am. Once we got into the library we went into a room near the entrance. The room had computers with RGB keyboards and mouses. After 2 minutes 2 girls started showing us the different things like 3d printers and more. Both of them started talking about each thing. We finally sat back down and they gave us small brown paper bags with different pieces.  All of us started doing what they told us to do with the pieces.

Around 20 minutes later we all finished our Matariki light boxes.

Then we took a group photo.

Matariki

Hello.

This Friday is Matariki.

Room 9 and 10 had to write some facts or what you are going to do for Matariki. We had to write everything we knew about Matariki. Here is my writing.

The name of the stars are called, Waitī, Waitā, Waipunarangi, Tupu-ā-nuku, Tupu-ā-rangi, Ururangi, Pōhutukawa, Hiwa-i-te-rangi and Matariki. There are 9 stars but only 7 can be seen.

Matariki is recognized as Māori new year. The stars appear around late May or June. 2024 is the 2nd year to celebrate and honor Matariki in New Zealand, with a public holiday. People say if you don’t see the stars it’s bad luck.

In New Zealand Matariki is called Matariki, while in other countries it’s called Pleiades.

Winter sport training

Hello.

This term we have been doing winter sport training. All of the year five and sixes gathered in the gym and we went to the people who were teaching the different sports. I was in volleyball and went with Whaea Megan. All of us sat on the fake grass and Whaea Megan told us to get in partners. Then, we got a ball and practiced our dig, serving and setting. Around 15 minutes later we sat back to the fake grass to play a volleyball match.

Whaea Megan told us all of the rules and we got in positions.  We all kept practicing our rotating and our sets. The game finally ended and we went back to class.

Frictional Force

Hell0.

For kaupapa we were learning about Frictional force. We learned about non-contact forces, contact forces, push and pull. We also learned about water resistance, air resistance, gravity and more. After learning about those things we had to get in pairs. Then some people made movies on My movie, while some other people made it on slideshows.

This is not finished yet but we have started it.
